      My sons and I are taking one of those $9 flights from MSP to Toledo on JetAmerica to go to Cedar Pointe for the rollercoasters We're very excited!

        I have no respect for a list that doesn't include the Cyclone in Coney Island. Yea I know it's old and made of wood, but that is what makes it one of the best. Hearing the wood creaking as you reach the summit is fantastic.

          I managed to convince my kids of the benefits of wood roller-coasters, aided by the Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain and the Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

          Wood is more ductile than steel, so with a wooden coaster there is whip crack effect that steel coasters can't match.

            I actually rode that one in Coney Island back in 1971 (and the Bobsled+Steeplechase) when I dated someone from NYC (but he was a BoSox fan.... )

            It was incredible, but I never went back on one again.

            I can still remember my Nathan's hot dog. It tasted better on the way down.
